The year 2020 had been in numerous ways a year of retrospect, of taking stock of technologies that the organizations had and how to best use them during the crisis.
However, 2021 will be the year when some of those technologies will become trends for the years to come and rule the market. Here we will talk about some of the top business strategy trends that emerged in 2020 and will rule the roost for the years to come or till something else comes up to uproot them from their celebrity cult status. But for now, these business strategy trends are gaining popularity amid the businesses recovering from the impact of COVID-19 – the deadly global pandemic.
Understand this – the global pandemic had affected everyone equally, and for businesses to recover the trust of their customers, it will be a long uphill task. However, a recent report by Deloitte throws a positive light on the scenario and talks about seven emerging business strategy trends that a business strategist must know in these troubled times to ensure that the business is not only standing but also flourishing.
So let’s have a look at what the report from Deloitte has to say about business strategy trends.
According to the report by Deloitte – agile marketing and authenticity – will be the two important factors in 2021 for a business strategist, at the same time taking care of the fact that ‘human needs’ are met regularly and with success. The report also threw light on the fact that trust and brand loyalty will become more important in 2021, as they both become more intertwined, irrespective of the fact that customers expect brands to be able to hinge quickly even during these uncertain times.
Deloitte’s report titled Global Marketing Trends 2021 from Deloitte Insights is based on two surveys the company conducted. The first survey was about more than 2,500 adult customers from selected countries in Asia, Middle East, Europe, and North America. The second survey was done on more than 400 C-suite executives – also including CMOs from the global companies in the US.
So according to the report, there are top seven marketing or business strategy trends that will change how the businesses are conducted. According to Deloitte – the chosen top specific trends shared one thing in common –
“Breaking out of the often defensive mindsets to more holistically and authentically meet human needs.”
So without further ado here are the top seven business strategy trends
- Agility: Agile marketing strategies will be successful in 2021 and beyond. A successful business strategist will be the one who will or can invest in agile marketing strategies. To be successful one will need to be imaginative and innovative.
- Purpose: For the organizations to survive the competition they need to be clear in their purpose of existence and identify their target audience upfront. Organizations, which know their target audience have better chances to be able to sail through these uncertainties.
- Trust: The important factor in any business. Build it or reinforce it by delivering what was promised. Keep your messages clear and transparent and the organization’s deliverables on those messages should be reliable as well as consistent.
- Human connections: The pandemic had induced fear in the consumers’ minds. Eliminate that fear by forging authentic human connections. Remember in these times – authentic connections with the customer are more important than either efficiency or speed-to-market delivery.
- Talent transformation: In order to differentiate themselves from the rapidly evolving technology-oriented environment it will be the responsibility to prepare new talent models. In other words, it will be important for the marketing and business strategy team to build a core team that will best reflect their competitive advantage in the market.
- Participation: With the augment of online shopping during the pandemic, the brands and business also expect active participation from their loyal customers in terms of giving honest feedback on the products and services, along with giving advice to fellow customers and becoming a part of online conversations with the brand either directly or on their social media handle.
- Fusion: This is the current trend that emerged during the pandemic crisis and recognizes the power of innovative partnerships in businesses. Blending two business practices to offer a world-class and speedy experience to the customers will ensure that the business gain popularity, trust, and brand loyalty along with new customers.
All in all, the result from the survey conducted by Deloitte points out one fact – Agile will be the dominant framework for how the organizations work and the requirements for tech-savvy talent that will accelerate digital transformation.
